Can the Token of Its Busiest Launchpad Keep Running?

I’m Louise Lee, a researcher at tronsell.io, and I’ve spent a few years in crypto. The thing I enjoy most is digging through the meme coins that just launched — the fresh ones the promo accounts haven’t written to death yet. This post isn’t a recap of which coin already blew up. Instead, I’ll walk you through one I’m watching right now: why I’m in, where I’d get out, and what signals would make me leave.

Let’s start with the backdrop. Robinhood, the U.S. app people use to buy stocks, quietly launched its own blockchain on July 1, 2026. It was meant for tokenized stocks and real-world assets. But the moment the chain went live, what ran ahead wasn’t stocks — it was meme coins. Within weeks of launch, meme coins accounted for nearly 80% of decentralized trading volume on the chain. And the busiest app on that chain wasn’t built by Robinhood itself, nor was it any serious finance protocol. It was a token launchpad called Pons, and its token, PONS.

In other words, the hottest new chain of 2026 got overrun by meme coins — and PONS sits right in the eye of that storm.

Why I’m Watching PONS Early

First, a definition of what “making it” means for PONS. It didn’t go viral off a picture of a dog or a frog. It’s the token of the chain’s biggest token factory. Whether it’s worth anything is mechanically tied to how active the platform is: Pons charges a 1% fee on every trade, and about 80% of that goes to buy PONS back on the open market and send it to a burn address. The more tokens get launched and the more trading happens, the more PONS gets bought back and burned, and the smaller the circulating supply gets.

This structure ties platform usage directly to token supply and demand — as long as people keep launching and trading on Pons, the fees keep buying back PONS, so there’s always a buyer. That’s the biggest difference between PONS and an ordinary meme coin, and it’s why I put it in my watch list early.

Looking ahead, here’s what I think could push it further:

First, Robinhood Chain itself is still growing. Its real foundation is tokenized stocks, real-world assets, and agent trading. If those land, Pons — as the busiest app on the chain — benefits too, instead of relying only on meme-coin activity to stay alive.

Second, the V2 upgrade is on the way. It adds a bonding curve, a Uniswap v4 liquidity pool that gets permanently locked after a token “graduates,” and support for pairing with stock tokens like Nvidia and Apple. This step takes the story from “launching tokens like crazy” to “real trading pairs,” adding another layer of logic. These features are mainly based on what the team has disclosed, and the on-chain rollout is still to be confirmed.

Third, its footprint on centralized exchanges is widening. Binance Wallet added PONS to its Alpha zone on September 2. Bitrue listed spot on August 27. KCEX followed on September 4. Coinbase went further and opened PONS-USD spot trading on October 7 — a major U.S. regulated exchange, which matters a lot. HTX and Gate have also listed it (timing per their own announcements). Every new exchange puts it in front of a fresh batch of people who never touched this chain before.

Fourth, burning has passed 30%. On-chain data platform HoodLock recorded on October 8 that 32.05% of PONS’s fixed 1 billion supply has already been sent to the burn address, with 103,411 holding addresses. As long as activity holds, that number only keeps climbing.

Fifth, the whole chain’s meme sector is still pulling in retail. Robinhood’s brand name drew in a wave of newcomers who never touched Solana, the kind of free attention no grassroots meme coin could buy with any amount of ad spend.

Is It For Real? The Five Things I Track

A story isn’t enough. I gave myself five checkpoints I can actually verify. When a positive signal shows up, I add a bit more; when it turns negative, I cut or exit entirely:

Trading volume after the subsidy ends. Robinhood Chain launched with a 90-day gas subsidy that expired around September 29, 2026. October’s data is the first clean read without the subsidy. If daily volume still holds in the hundreds of millions of dollars, the demand is real. If it collapses, the buyback engine stalls.

Pons’s own daily fees. In early September (around Sept 3–4) it pulled in about $5.95 million in fees in a single day and ranked near the top of DefiLlama’s launchpad revenue chart — at one point above Pump.fun. What I watch is whether that number falls back to its August pullback level (a couple million dollars a day or less) — because then the source of the burns weakens.

Competitors’ share. Uniswap’s Pools.trade launched in early August with zero fees and briefly grabbed about half of launchpad volume (this claim appears in only one source so far, pending independent confirmation). Bankr, Flap, and Long.xyz are also chasing. If a zero-fee rival permanently takes most of the users, PONS’s competitive edge disappears.

Whale holdings. HoodLock shows the top 10 wallets (excluding contracts and the burn address) hold about 19.21%. Meme coins have thin supply, so a few whales selling can crash the price hard — I check this every day.

Is the narrative still alive? PONS’s value is anchored to launch activity, not any fundamentals. If Robinhood Chain’s meme hype cools the way Solana’s and Base’s once did, PONS drops hard with it — it has already fallen from its early-September high of about $0.97 to roughly $0.27–0.41 now, a drawdown of more than 50%. That’s a live example.

Three Scenarios From Here

Here’s my own reasoning — not a guarantee, just the math laid out:

Bull case. The market absorbs the subsidy exit, the chain keeps growing, V2 brings stock-pair trading, and more exchanges list it. PONS retests or even breaks its previous high (FDV near the $1 billion level).

Base case. Post-subsidy volume settles at a lower but stable level, PONS trades between $0.2 and $0.5, and burns continue but slow down. It stays the top token on the chain, but no new parabolic run.

Bear case. Volume collapses after the subsidy ends, rivals take the share, and attention moves to another chain. PONS draws down hard toward its historical low, meeting the same fate as most new meme coins that don’t survive three months.

What It Is, and How I Hold It

At the end of the day, PONS is an attention asset, not a value asset. Its price is fundamentally tied to how lively meme-coin trading is on Robinhood Chain. My approach is simple: small size, only money I can afford to lose. I treat it as a gauge for “is this chain still hot,” not as a long-term hold I’d buy more of on every dip. Belief doesn’t pay — when the signal turns bad, I sell.

About Me and Tronsell.io

I’m Louise Lee, a crypto industry veteran and a researcher at tronsell.io. tronsell.io runs a self-operated energy pool with about 400 million TRX staked, supplying roughly 3.7 billion energy and 35 million bandwidth to clients, serving 10+ institutional clients, focused on TRON on-chain fee optimization.
