Within less than nine hours of launch, its market cap briefly hit $29 million. What I found most interesting wasn’t the number — it was one of its mechanics: a slice of the creator fee from every trade is routed, through a tool called UsePaid, straight to a real Silicon Valley figure — Beff Jezos. This person has no official connection to the token at all. The coin was simply named after him, and the money flowed to him passively.

A philosophical slogan turned into a coin that auto-pays a philosopher — that alone is strange enough. In this piece, I’ll break it down: why it blew up, and how it cooled off.

The e/acc movement predates the coin by three years

e/acc stands for Effective Accelerationism. Think of it as a 21st-century philosophical current whose core idea is simple: technology, especially artificial intelligence, should be floored — pushed to its absolute limit — because it can help humanity solve big problems like poverty, war, and climate change. The idea first took shape around 2023 in X’s live audio rooms, and the account that really put it on the map was Beff Jezos. It’s widely believed that behind this account is Guillaume Verdon — a former Google engineer in quantum computing and quantum machine learning who later founded the AI hardware company Extropic.

What’s interesting is how quickly this movement became an identity tag. Marc Andreessen, co-founder of a16z, and Garry Tan, CEO of YC, both appended “e/acc” to their bios. A large crowd followed, tacking those four letters onto their own names. In other words, before the coin ever existed, e/acc was already a real, recognizable internet symbol with a real person behind it. That’s different from the many memes that invent an animal out of thin air — this one arrived with a built-in audience that already bought into the narrative.

The coin moved faster than the movement itself

On September 25, 2026 (UTC), someone deployed e/acc on Solana via Pump.fun, and it “graduated” the same day (its liquidity migrated to a DEX). The contract address is CbcyNo7m1amFWqEQm2m4PLv1UNvpcL3C1Ujm6AkzpKoU. Total and circulating supply are both 983.4 million — 100% in circulation, no team allocation, no presale.

What sets it apart from a typical AI-themed meme is exactly this fee-splitting design. The team didn’t keep a cut for itself. Instead, it routed the creator fee through UsePaid directly to Beff Jezos’s X Money account — reportedly 80% converted to dollars and paid to him, with 20% used to buy back and burn the PAID token. In effect, the coin turned “paying tribute to the movement” into a real-money loop: every time you buy or sell, you hand a little “royalty” to the person who popularized the slogan. He never issued the coin, never endorsed it — the money simply flowed to him through the contract.

In the first few days, a few things pushed it into the spotlight

The first push was the numbers themselves. According to GMGN data cited by BlockBeats and Lookonchain, about nine hours after launch, e/acc’s market cap crossed $29 million, with 24-hour volume hitting $55.5 million. In the meme world, that kind of speed is the best advertising there is.

The second push came from Beff Jezos’s own reaction. On launch day, he first thought his X Money account was under a DDoS attack. Once he realized someone had made a coin using his name — and was sending him money — he said he might use those funds for e/acc-related non-profit activities. A real-person reaction of “my name was used, and I somehow got paid” is more shareable than any marketing copy.

The third push, oddly enough, came from the disclaimers. Nearly every report stressed that Beff Jezos has no official issuing relationship with the coin — he was just named after it. But repeating that clarification for free told the story all over again, and more people learned that “there’s a coin auto-paying a philosopher.”

Why it blew up so fast

Let’s pull these layers apart. The first thing that made it different: it borrowed a real movement with a real person behind it, and that person did nothing himself while money was automatically deposited into his account — that alone is a great conversation starter. More importantly, the person is real; you can find him on X. He’s not made up.

The next layer: e/acc is itself a label. A lot of people like to add it after their name to signal who they are. This coin turned that identity into something you can buy and sell, so its potential buyer base is naturally larger than a generic animal coin, because a whole group of people already identify with the idea.

Another layer: it used a playbook that had already been proven repeatedly in 2026 — an AI narrative, plus a passive celebrity association, plus a fair launch on Pump.fun. Retail traders had seen this combination too many times that year; the moment they saw it, they knew to buy.

The most ironic and most crucial layer: Beff’s “I thought I was being DDoS’d” post, combined with every outlet’s “no official relationship” disclaimer, didn’t put out the fire — it pushed the story further, effectively putting it on several rounds of trending searches for free. The more the media clarified, the more people found out.

Finally, the structure: a fair launch, no presale, with only a few hundred thousand to a few million dollars of liquidity at the start — yet a market cap in the tens of millions. With liquidity that thin, the price is easily pumped up and just as easily dumped. Stack all of the above together, and you get that nine-hour spike.

From peak to now: the drop

The heat faded just as fast. I pulled a live snapshot on October 8, 2026: the e/acc main pool price was about $0.00316, market cap about $3.11 million, down 51.7% over 24 hours, with 24-hour volume of about $1.58 million in the main pool (about $3.2 million across all pools), main-pool liquidity about $327,000 and about $650,000 across all pools. Compared with the near-$29 million peak on launch day, the market cap has roughly shrunk by 90%.

A few data points disagree across sources, so I’ll lay them out as they are: holder addresses — Phantom recorded about 4,700 on September 26, while DexBrief recorded about 9,980 on October 4; top-10 concentration — one source says 14.6%, another says 21%. On the CEX side, Bitrue and Gate.io both listed futures, spot, and leveraged trading, and Moonshot gave it a verified badge. Overall, its peak looks more like a pulse under thin liquidity than a level it actually held.

There are plenty of same-name copycats on the same chains, so a warning is in order: there’s another e/acc on Base (contract 0x9260aa5dd62d592d8056cccbba013414aa17fb07) with about $1.7 million in liquidity but almost zero 24-hour volume — most likely a copycat; on Solana there are also fakes with top-10 concentration as high as 56% and only tens of thousands of dollars in liquidity. Before trading, verify the contract CbcyNo7m1amFWqEQm2m4PLv1UNvpcL3C1Ujm6AkzpKoU character by character.

A final word

An idea turned into a tradable coin; a philosopher received money because someone opened a market on his slogan — and he did nothing. That’s probably the truest picture of meme economics in 2026: attention itself can become an asset you can buy and sell, and the same force that pushes it up is often the force that pulls it down. If you really want to get involved, only use money you can afford to lose, double-check the contract address before buying, and don’t rush in when the hype is at its peak.

I’m Louise Lee, a researcher at tronsell.io. tronsell.io runs a self-operated energy pool with a stable stake of around 400 million TRX, supplying roughly 3.7 billion energy and 35 million bandwidth, and has served 10+ institutional clients.
